WHERE ARE WE NOW

UTOPIA Treasury, Great Arch Hall, Somerset House
Mon 14th – Sun 20th November 2016
Free Admission

Where are we now is a cultural cross section through Europe and Asia motivated by the recent migration crisis and exploring the links between place, belonging, happiness and people’s hopes and perception of the future.

Filmed during an eight-month cycling trip from London to Hong Kong, video interviews were recorded every one hundred kilometers asking the same questions, building a comparative sense of responses. The final result explores the paths of imagination and possibility in a Utopian non-place inhabited by the interviewees.

Expectations changed across the different countries and social environments encountered. How happy are we now, in relation to where we are? What do we expect from the future and what does our opinion of the future say about who we are now?

Thu 17th November, 1:30 pm
Talk "15 minutes of Utopia":
Damian Hicks and Giulia Saccogna will introduce the idea behind the project and present a few Utopian stories.
